There were some inventory problems - some items couldn't be rezzed, others could but were missing primitives. However, Linden Lab did say beforehand that there would be bugs and that the main point was to gather bug reports regarding client and sim crashes.

GeForce 2 users don't get to see high-res ground textures in 1.0 but they sure do in 1.1! The ground looks GREAT. This sim was called "sandbox" and was used by many of the beta testers for experimentation. It crashed a number of times and was finally taken down.

Sandbox Hill. Looks like there's a little moss growing! I didn't notice any performance drop over 1.0, even with the finely detailed terrain.

No more wierd jagged terrain: everything is smoothed. (Except in the top left, I'm guessing it isn't smoothed either because it's far away or because the slope is very steep.)

Environment mapping and bump mapping (not shown here) are now possible on objects. Clothes can't be env mapped or bump mapped. The envmap is pretty simple - it's just the current skybox. (It changes color as the day goes by - at sunset, the "chrome" was sunset orange.) Note that this is NOT a mirror, and will not reflect anything.

It can tell you about terrain (including landscape and buildings), landscape alone, popular places, places where you can buy land, and places where there are objects for sale. This is the popularity map: popular areas are highlighted in white. The green dots are avatars. Notice the terrain features: buildings are shaded by height, giving the map a very realistic LANDSAT-like appearance.
