This is a part of the box canyon that most people don't bother to visit. It's in the unfashionable area south of the visitor center. Further down is Eaton Canyon Wash, where the stream terminates.

People entering the canyon via the Visitor Center (or who want to exit that way) have to circumnavigate this large pool. It is part of the stream that runs from the northern reaches (the waterfall) all the way down south to the wash. There are various boulders and flotsam that can be jumped on. Some people just run through it!

View of the New York Drive bridge from Eaton Canyon Wash. We are looking north. The stream ends in a basin here, and sinks into the earth, recharging local water tables. This is about a ten-minute stumble south from the Nature Center.
